Description

Sandy Hook is a 6-mile-long peninsula jutting from the New Jersey coast into the Atlantic Ocean and is located at the Gateway National Recreation Area in Monmouth County, New Jersey. There is breathtaking natural scenery and historic military buildings. Sandy Hook's Multi Use Path runs past the beaches and to the Fort Hancock parade ground, past historic the houses called Officer's Row. You also ride past the Nike Missile Radar site, the historic batteries, and the Sandy Hook lighthouse. Sandy Hook Lighthouse is the oldest operating lighthouse in the US, built in 1764 and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964.

This route starts at Sandy Hook Beach C and travels past the Fort Hancock historic buildings. As the path loops around you will see the lighthouse on your right and the Mortar Battery to your left before returning back towards Beach C.
