About Sattal
Sattal or Sat Tal is an interconnected group of seven freshwater lakes situated in the Lower Himalayan Range near Bhimtal, a town of the Nainital district in Uttarakhand, India. Surrounded by hills, the lakes give a sense of peace and calm, which makes it an ideal destination for water sports or day-long excursions.
Route Overview
This route includes 3 ascents and one circle along Sita Tal, one of the largest lakes in the area, making it a (near)perfect 10k route. The three hills were chosen because they are in the immediate surrounding of the lake and there's a place of worship atop each hill - temple of Lord Shiva, an ashram for Hidimba and a church.
