Sea to Summit: Mediterranean to Canigou
This stunning FKT route links the Mediterranean coast with one of the most iconic peaks in the Eastern Pyrenees – the Canigou (2,784 m). Starting at sea level near the mouth of the Têt River in Canet-en-Roussillon, the route heads inland through the vibrant city of Perpignan, charming Catalan villages like Ille-sur-Têt and Prades, and ascends deep into the mountains – finishing on the summit cross of Canigou itself.

A classic "Sea-to-Summit" adventure – this route transitions from flat coastal roads and rural tracks to steep, alpine singletrack. It largely follows the Têt valley but deviates where necessary to avoid traffic and maximize scenic value. The final climb to the summit offers sweeping views and a fittingly epic conclusion.

At the aquarium in Canet-en-Roussillon, the route’s starting point, visitors can explore the reverse journey of a water droplet – from the Canigou summit all the way to the Mediterranean Sea. A beautiful tribute to the source and story of the Têt River.
