Silver Mountain is the most prominent peak in the La Platas as viewed from Durango. Silver has the large east facing snowy bowl that is proudly visible from the Fort Lewis College campus. It has a standard USGS trail to the top, which involves climbing Deadwood Mountain, and traversing across to Silver Mountain.
