Description

The South Hams Way is a scenic circular walking trail of about 100 miles (163 km) around the South Hams area of South Devon, beginning and ending in the historic market town of Totnes. It weaves from the wild open moorland of Dartmoor National Park into the rolling wooded valleys of the South Devon National Landscape, then follows about 50 miles of the dramatic South West Coast Path from the Yealm estuary via Salcombe to Dartmouth, crossing five distinctive estuaries along the way. Along the route, walkers encounter centuries of history and culture, from medieval churches and Norman castles to timeworn fishing villages and market towns that have shaped Devon’s heritage. Each of the ten stages ends in a village or town, making the route perfect for multi-day walking with good access to transport, food and accommodation.
