Traverse of the Middle Taygetus moutains from the Calamata-Sparta pass ending at Profitis Ilias Peak. This route is a sensational ridge-line with breathtaking views.

The route starts on the pass between Sparta and Calamata and follows the ridge line over the highest peaks up to Profitis Ilias Peak, where the decent starts. The route ends at the church in the small town Paleopanagia. What makes the route iconic is the fact that the mountains traversed were the backdrop of Ancient Sparta and the heroes of old gazed out on them during training and basically any outdoor activity. I wonder if Spartan training inlcuded a few peaks...
