Description

The Speyside Way is one of Scotland's Great Trails, following the course of the River Spey from the Moray Firth through the heart of Speyside and into the Cairngorms National Park.

Originally established as a route between Buckie and Aviemore, the trail was extended in 2021 by approximately 15 miles (24 km) southwards to Kingussie, bringing the total length to around 85 miles (137 km). The extension follows the River Spey through woodland, open moorland and past the historic Ruthven Barracks before reaching the route's southern terminus at Kingussie.

The trail passes through some of Scotland's most famous whisky-producing regions and a diverse range of landscapes, including the Moray coast, fertile river valleys, ancient pinewoods, heather moorland and the foothills of the Cairngorm Mountains.
