Description

A classic challenge for anyone based in the Falklands.
An epic, unyielding 50KM point-to-point run across windswept East Falkland.

Connecting the remote military outpost of Mount Pleasant Complex (MPC) directly to the historic capital of Stanley, the route traces the island's only continuous corridor of smooth asphalt.
While the tarmac offers a fast, continuous road, there is a gravel verge the entire way to accommodate trail runners.
The route strips away all modern comforts; there are no shops, towns, or public water services along the entire 50km span.
The course rolls continuously over undulating sub-Antarctic terrain, cutting through expansive peat bogs and vast sheep pastures partitioned by cattle grids. Runners share the horizon with low-flying upland geese, roaming livestock, and the historical backdrop of 1982 battlefields and military memorials.
The defining variable of this FKT attempt is the legendary South Atlantic weather. Stripped of any natural windbreaks, runners battle ferocious, unrelenting winds.

• Start Point: MPC guard gate
• Finish Point: The welcome sign of Stanley
• Distance: ~50 Kilometres (approx. 31 miles).
