What we call the Teton Grande Route (TGR) is a one day trail run variation on a section of the iconic Teton Crest Trail (https://www.cleverhiker.com/backpacking/teton-crest-trail-backpacking-guide/), beginning in Grand Teton National Park. Our route travels north to south to maximize elevation gain. Starting at the String Lake Trailhead (6800 ft), the course runs along the shore of Jenny Lake, and then up Cascade Canyon with spectacular views of the Grand Teton and surrounding peaks, accompanied by superlative wildflowers and wildlife (moose and bears!). The route takes the south fork of the Cascade Canyon trail up past stunning views of Schoolroom Glacier to Hurricaine Pass at 10,400 feet. Runners then continue along the Teton Crest Trail through a stunning high alpine environment to Marion Lake, then descend briefly and take the Rendezvous Mountain Trail and finish the trek at the top of the Jackson Hole Ski Resort Arial Tram. Hop on the Gondola and ride back down to the village for a well deserved meal! This was one of the best 29 mile runs anywhere on earth.
