Description

Valley Loop, is a Loop that full encircles the whole of the Lower Hutt Valley.

It starts on the Petone waterfront between Hikoikoi Reserve and McEwan Park, and heads west along the shoreline onto Petone the Esplanade.  Following the shoreline it turns inland up Hutt road along the bikepath, under the rail tracks and along Mckenzie road to corss over the motorway and down Pito-one road to the Cornish St entrance to Belmont Regional Park. The route then climbs up to Belmont Trig, then follows the Puke Ariki mountain range to Dry Creek. It then crosses the northern part of the Valley, crossing over the Te Awa Kairangi (the Hutt River) north of Manor Park golf course on the Silverstream Pipe Bridge (Whakawhirinaki). Then the route climbs up Pukeatua mountain Range between Silverstream (Upper Hutt) and Stokes Valley (Lower Hutt), following the range all the way South, crossing Wainuiomata hill road, and down towards Point Howard, then following the shoreline past the marina, the hutt estuary bridge, and following the Rimutaka Bike trail course past the Petone Sand Plant onto the Petone Esplanade to end where you began.
