The 94km long Vulkanradweg (volcanic cycle path) is one of the most famous routes in Hessen. It follows the route of the former Odenwaldbahn (train tracks) and connects the regions Vogelsberg and Wetterau - the largest volcanic massive in Europe.
The cycle path runs completely on asphalt and the gradient is never more than 3%. As the up- and downhills (ca. 600m) nearly equal, it doesn't really matter in which direction you run the route.
