Wildspitze is the second highest mountain in Austria (after Grossglockner) and is the second highest mountain in the Provence of Tirol. It is the highest mountain in North Tirol. Wildspitze is one of the major peaks in the Alps when it comes to prominence. It ranks 4th in the Alps after Mont Blanc, Finsteraarhorn and Grossglockner with a prominence of 2261 meters. Wildspitze is also referred to as Oetztaler Wildspitze, because there is a second Wildspitze nearby: The Stubaier Wildspitze. Still, when the name Wildspitze is used, most people are talking about the Oetztaler Wildspitze. The nearest higher mountain of Wildspitze is Ortler (3905m), 48 kilometres to the South in Italy.
From Vent:
Start at the parking lot at the entrance of Vent. Ascent to the Breslauer Hütte (2,844 m) via the Stableinalm (2365 m). Continue over the scree field and the fixed rope route (max. C) to the Mitterkarjoch (3468 m). From there over the Taschachferner to the Wildspitze (3770 m) whose summit is reached with easy climbing. Return to the valley on the same route to the starting point.
Please bring crampons, helmet, pickaxe and safety equipment.

Start am Parkplatz am Ortseingang von Vent. Aufstieg zur Breslauer Hütte (2.844 m) über die Stableinalm (2365 m). Weiter über das Geröllfeld und den Klettersteig (max. C) zum Mitterkarjoch (3468 m). Von dort über den Taschachferner zur Wildspitze (3770 m) deren Gipfel mit leichter Kletterei erreicht wird. Auf dem gleichen Weg zurück ins Tal bis zum Ausgangspunkt.
Bitte Steigeisen, Steinschlaghelm, Pickel und Sicherheitsausrüstung mitführen.
