The Willance's Leap Loop route offers a blend of historical landmarks, natural landscapes, and the challenge of a varied terrain, making for an exciting and fulfilling running experience.
Starting off at Easby Abbey, founded in 1152, you follow a path steeped in history following the route of the drummer boy [1], you then hit Richmond Falls and ascend past Richmond Castle [2] constructed in 1071. Leaving the town centre you ascend to the historic point where the legend of Robert Willance began, passing the drop where his horse leapt over the edge of a cliff. Returning back down you cross over the River Swale and return to Easby Abbey on the south side of the river, with majestic castle views.
Willance's Leap Loop combines two popular walking and running routes into a single challenging loop covering the best sights and views of this historic North Yorkshire Town.
