Description

This is a traverse of the Williams Fork Range, starting at the Ute Pass Trailhead and traveling south, summiting Ute Peak (12,303'), staying roughly along the ridgeline to the summit of Ptarmigan Peak (12,504'), ending at the Ptarmigan Trail Trailhead.

  • Start at the Ute Pass Trailhead
  • Follow the trail to the first junction 2+ miles in and go right on the Ute Peak TR N24
  • Climb up to the ridge. As you get to the steeper section, the trial fades away. It will come and go from here on.
  • Continue straight on the Ute Peak Trail at the junction with the Acorn Creek Trail
  • Just stay relatively along the crest of the range all the way south to the summit of Ptarmigan Peak
  • Take the trail all the way down to the Ptarmigan Peak Trailhead
