This is a Route to the summit of the Zugspitze (2,962 m), Germany's highest mountain.

The route starts at St. Johanneskirche in the center of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and follows the most direct and traditional line to the summit. It continues through Hammersbach, the Höllentalklamm, past the Höllentalangerhütte, across the Höllentalferner glacier, and via the Höllental Klettersteig to the summit cross. (Via Ferrata Difficulty C)

The Höllental route is one of the classic and most iconic ascents of the Zugspitze, combining alpine hiking, glacier travel, and a protected via ferrata.

The FKT starts at the main entrance of St. Johanneskirche and finishes at the summit cross of the Zugspitze

Info: The Höllentalklamm requires an entry fee of 7€ (2026)
