Description

This route covers nearly 25 miles of picturesque beach on the Cape Cod National Seashore. The CCNS, which sits on the Atlantic-facing eastern shore of Cape Cod, was created by JFK in 1961 and has remained a state treasure in Massachusetts. Each year, thousands of people come to enjoy the many beaches on its nearly 40 miles of seashore. There are six swimming beaches recognized by the CCNS, and this route passes through every one of them--between Coast Guard Beach in Eastham, MA and Race Point Beach in Provincetown. While there are many beaches along the coast, the vast majority of the trek passes through remote shoreline with the Atlantic on your right (usually with a few seals staring at you) and high dune cliffs on your left, without a soul in sight. With a near marathon distance to cover entirely on sand, this route is as difficult as it is beautiful, and anyone who decides to complete it will surely remember it for the rest of their life.
