Headed out on 6/13/22 for a self-supported attempt on the Empire State Trail from Buffalo to NYC. Attempting to cover the distance in +/- 8 days. I've mailed off a few resupply boxes to pickup at USPS along the trail, sleeping at hotels/motels along the trail, and taking the Amtrak from NYC to the start in Buffalo.

I’m going for an attempt on this beginning May 9th with a goal of about 8 days. I’ve been dreaming about this for a while after I finished the Iceland Ring Road a couple years ago which was fewer goal miles per day but more overall miles. Was going to do this in October but had an injury after the Twisted Branch 100k last summer. Looks like we will have rain for the first couple of days followed by clearer skies. I’m running southbound from Buffalo to Battery park as I live in Brooklyn.Â

Done! Holy smokes. Ended up needing two more days. Started strong with 2 x 70 mile days, then achilles tendinopathy had a word! Had to slow to 50 miles for a couple painful days but dug my way out and back. Worked up to multiple 60 mile days toward the end. Super proud and will load my gps files soon. Ended up being about 9 days, 11 hours and 45 minutes. It was an unforgettable experience in patience, working through pain, every reason to quit, and a wonderful pay off in Battery Park.
Great effort, congrats.
Thank you so much!
