Full Details and history here: https://arnoldrimtrail.org/
The Arnold Rim Trail is a non-motorized trail system designed for hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians. ART connects the many wonders of public lands along the Ebbetts Pass National Scenic Byway stretch of Hwy 4 to its communities, creating a high level of access for its residents and visitors.
This is a point to point route, approximately 18 miles and 3000' of climbing when going East to West.
7/11/2023: Per Trevor Meding's suggestion, route variations have been updated to reflect the trail extension as follows:
The website (Arnold Rim Trail Map – Arnold Rim Trail) now shows the route going from the Seirra Nevada Logging Museum (0.0 Mi) all the way south to Fullen Rd, Avery, CA (22.8 Mi). This is an extension of the trail from the original route submitted which used to end at the Heliport near Hathway Pines (18.5 Mi). With the revised route the variations are as follows (in my opinion):
(i) one way -- traditional (N to S) starting at Sierra Nevada Logging Museum in Arnold, CA trailhead sign (0.0 Mi) & ending at Fullen Rd (22.8 Mi) | net downhill 22.8 Mi, ~4,100 ft+
(ii) one way -- reverse (S to N) starting at Fullen Rd (22.8 Mi) & ending at the Sierra Nevada Logging Museum in Arnold, CA (0.0 Mi) trailhead sign | net uphill 22.8 Mi, ~4,900 ft+
(iii) out & back -- full route starting at Sierra Nevada Logging Museum in Arnold, CA trailhead sign (0.0 Mi) & ending at Fullen Rd (22.8 Mi) & return | total of 45.6 Mi, ~9,000 ft+

Tomorrow I'll be doing an FKT attempt on the ART going from East to West, starting around 7am. I was stoked to see this route was on the site!

I was made aware that this route was on this site after running this yesterday on my long run. I submitted my unsupported attempt (ART reverse) since there is no leaderboard yet. However, I believe this route needs to be updated with the updated trail extension of ART. The current version on the site only goes to the heliport.

I still would love to do the out & back one day, but I was not able to fit into my schedule on this particular trip to Arnold. This is a great trail that is extremely well marked and easy to follow. There are great views along the way.
My attempt from yesterday shows the full 22.8 Mi route (in reverse) as I ran S to N, for anyone interested. Arnold Rim Trail (ART) reverse, Avery, CA | Run | Strava
After the STRAVA segment I created synced up with the leaderboards of prior runners it appears that I was not the first, nor the fastest KNOWN time, on the S to N segment. The segmet I created on STRAVA (Arnold Rim Trail (ART) reverse, Avery, CA | Run | Strava) shows Karson Yu has the fkt of 0:04:33:32. I will return hopefully next year and give the out & back ~45Mi an attempt.
Heading out for the day tomorrow (2024-Jul-13th) bright and early attempting the yo-yo version starting at the traditional 0.0 Mi trailhead in Arnold. Will be carrying all my own fluids going for an unsupported attempt.
completed the full out & back route unsupported, and have submitted my data. My detailed trip report will be available on my blog soon.
