The Mesa trail a little longer (0.6 miles) and 14.1 miles, but we kept the fire going!
Cade and I set out to break my 2016 time of 1:28:55. We knew it was possible if everything went well.
Plan: run smart. 2016 Andy took it out hard. 2016 Andy ran a 4:30 mile 6 and blew up his legs.
Well 2024 Andy is just as rowdy. Took out the first 2 miles even harder than 2016. Ran smooth on the rocky sections. Blasted two ~5:00 miles at 6/7 and blew up even more on the long South Mesa uphill. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Psyched to have young protégé, Cade push me on the uphills. He made the back half look easy, as I was wheezing.
This was a great test, before the season really gets underway! I am both proud of what Cade and I have done in training to get here, but also know what I need to do to dial in for GoPro, Broken Arrow, etc.
Took 250mL fluids at halfway.
FKT Gear/Nate Castner filmed!
45:0x Split is halfway/turnaround.
1:32:55 - all out.
