On Friday, July 3rd I drove up to Moncton to meetup with Matt Hagans to go up on a trip to Mount Carleton Provincial Park. We had some great conversation on our long drive to the park and upon arrival we were pretty eager to summit Mount Bailey as it was a trailhead near our campsite. We left the official trailhead at 5:19pm and finished with an elapsed time of 1 hour, 13 minutes and 33 seconds. The trail was beautifully blazed with orange markings guiding us to the great views that the summit offered. We ran some extra distance in order to soak in a few of the viewpoints, got off trail for a short second but quickly came back onto trail where we left off to complete it in its entirety. We saw several hikers making use of this trail and had a great run together in celebration of Matt’s first FKT.
