Lorain/StoneyCreek Hiking Trails Self Supported Fkt
Had to come back for redemption. The other day I did this FKT and so many things went wrong even with it being a short course, needed to come back and do it again. My watch kept screwing up, I kept getting turned around, and was getting frustrated as the short answer why I needed to come back.
So I got my redemption today. Made sure to study the map and watch video I made of the course so I knew where to go and turn without relying on my watch. Though the blazes on the trees do help a lot as well. They did clear some of the downed tress from winter as well as blew some of the leaves off maybe half mile of the trail that was covered so it made reading trail and being able to actual run a little easier today. My mental navigation also kicked in today, my body instinctively seemed to know where to go, wish that was there the other day.
Anyway it was hot about 80 degrees when I started. Debated on going shirtless but kept shirt on because I knew it was going to rain at some point, was hoping to miss it. But I did not. The first couple miles were alright. Made sure to go right way while warming body up. Everything made more sense today of where to go. About 2.5 miles in in started to rain and it did come down little harder by mile 4. Made trail after it started very slick and sketchy. Since i had the worst parts left for footing. That ment i could not take risks with footing and had make sure of where I was stepping. Which made me slower. Go it done though without falling which is a surprise. Saw one turkey and the 3 deer again.
Legs felt better then yesterday but not fresh so hills did suck. Did get overheated in spots. Still can knock time off once trails are cleaned and trees are removed. Plus a dry day would help with cool temps.
