I started around 5:20am from the big UB south sign as done by previous runners. My mom was a mobile aid station- this definitely saved time as far as getting water resupply, even if I didn’t need food resupply.
the route goes through so much variety of Buffalo, and it only touches the outside. The city is an extremely rich place in culture and history, art, music, and pride in sports- evidence of the Bills mafia is everywhere. So many landmarks to pass by, and so many memories from living in the city. I moved to Buffalo, downtown, from my hometown 45 minutes away after undergrad, but it was a city I was already very familiar with. I had several different apartments in various parts of Buffalo, and this run took me to places I’d never been- and others I loved before.
It was wonderful to come back for an east coast visit to see my family in and around Buffalo and to make this a part of it.
Now I will go back to running on trails. Concrete is brutal.
*there were two bridge closures, one with a longer workaround near Buffalo Riverworks.
