Enjoyable day out along the coastal path. I got the early bus up to Warkworth and started just before 9am, conditions were good albeit I was running into a slight headwind for most of the run. Tried to keep my pace steady with only a few short stops to check route markers. I stopped at the caravan park near halfway for one bottle of water, in hindsight I know I didn't drink anywhere near enough on the day. I had decided to run the extended route to Jarrow using the pedestrian tunnel and I was happy with everything up all the way to Royal Quays but I felt that I lost far too much time in the 3 miles or so after that - waiting on the lift in and then back out of the tunnel followed by the utter confusion of trying to follow the written description of the final section in Jarrow, just names of roads that I didn't know and directions which genuinely made no clear sense to me. I finally found my way to the church at the end but it felt like an ending that was far from convincing. Overall take on the day - some really nice trails, more than a few long drawn out road sections, plenty of lovely landmarks, great beaches and views - a pretty decent day out.
