This was my attempt for the unsupported FKT. I started out super conservatively as recovery from the Vermont Ultra Beast has been slow going. Running felt easy until about the halfway mark then the pace / effort really started to slow.
Hauling the extra 8-10 pounds worth of food and water also started to take its tool and the endless rocks that grace the AT finished off my legs. Definitely slower and a much harder effort in the end than I hoped for but still happy to do this bucket list run.
My food was a combination of Lara bars, cliff bars, grilled sweet and regular potatoes and tortillas with peanut butter, honey and banana. I carried 4 500 ml soft flasks to stretch the distance between water stops and only ended up relying on the wells at Washington Monument and Gathland State Parks.
