This ended up being a lot more difficult than I had expected. About 20 miles of the trail had a few inches of snow on it, sometimes melted in strips due to the old railroad ties underneath the trail, creating a bit of a rumble strip effect. There were also a few blowdowns in places. Some of the route is gradually being taken off roads, especially on the southern end, and there are sections of road running still that parallel the old railroad bed. There is talk (and some physical progress being made) of extending the trail south to Port Jervis so maybe it will eventually make sense to have a variation for the whole rail line.
I missed a turn toward the end and had to backtrack, pushing at the end to beat the former supported time. Then I biked back to my car. I would not recommend biking on Highway 209. It is often very rough with narrow shoulders.
