I’ve wanted to run this route for a couple years. You can see Slide Mountain from all over the Hudson Valley, even from Connecticut and Vermont. When I finally realized that the Hudson River is at sea level I knew this had to happen.
I dropped a bike at the trailhead on the west side of Slide then started from the Kingston Beach. The first few miles were on sidewalks and rail trail, then mostly small paved roads until the climb up Friday, where I saw one bear. There was still some snow on Slide but I was able to make it up without much trouble. Then I hiked down and biked back to Kingston. There was plenty of water to filter this early in the spring. This was a super fun route that could go much faster.
