Report
I ran this loop in a time of 1:18:16 on June 7, 2020. There are always a lot of runners, walkers, and cyclists training and exercising on this loop. I would like to bring awareness to and enthusiasm for this route via the Lake Carroll News, which releases a periodic newsletter to the homeowners association. Having my time published here would add legitimacy to my accomplishment and will hopefully inspire others to take up the challenge. This part of Illinois could certainly use an FKT.

Very nice run Spencer. I've been thinking about setting up a FKT somewhere in N. IL outside of the Chicagoland area too. I've wanted to run at Lake Carroll too, but I thought you had to be a member of the "community" to be out there? The golf course is open to the public, but there's signs on the road that say "Members and guests only past this point". Has that changed? Only, where would someone park for this FKT? Looks like you picked an intersection that doesn't have a parking lot and since it's a "closed community" is parking on the road allowed? Appreciate the feedback Spencer. Great pace BTW, I can't touch that with those hills.
OCtrailrunner,
I have a friend in the community. The intersection I started at was just the closest point along the route to their house. As this is a loop, any starting point along the route, headed in either direction, should qualify. I decided to go clockwise so that I could finish with the big uphill when you turn west onto Zier road.
As for parking/accessibility, do not park along the road. I have never seen a car parked along Lake Carroll Boulevard. The golf course may be a good option, especially if you call ahead and ask. There also appears to be a small parking lot at the eastern intersection of Lake Carroll Boulevard and Zier Road at the base of the hill.
If you want to run the route, my best advice would be to courtesy call ahead of time, be it to the homeowners association, the golf course, or the business(es) that own the small parking lot at the eastern intersection of Lake Carroll Boulevard and Zier Road. I would hate to give you any bad information. Hope this helps and thanks for your kind words!
