We combined the two alpine linkups by foot starting from saddlebag lake and finishing at Tenaya lake. We also did a variation of the route: instead of downclimbing W ridge of Conness, we followed the ridgeline to White Mountain and then to Ragged Peak before dropping down to the Young Lakes trail. This felt like a more aesthetic route to us. I suppose the next adventurer could go either way. Following the ridgeline to White and Ragged is longer and probably takes more time overall but leads you to two bonus summits. From Young Lakes we dropped down into Tuolumne Meadows and then did the classic triple crown (Cathedral, Matthes, Tenaya) backwards.
Perhaps this should be in a separate tab from the traditional Alpine Grand Slam since we did it self-powered and climbed a slightly different variation. Either way this route is a classic adventure!
