Description

VERY popular hiking route in Charlevoix. Probably one of the most popular hiking route in the whole province of Quebec. Very busy, filled with novice and experienced hikers. Bus shuttle will regularly drop 40 people at the start of the route, every 10-15 minutes on nice weather day. It is not uncommon to find 200+ people on the trail and summit area on a nice summer day. Best to pick an overcast day for an attempt.

Start at the Parc cabin/gate just past the bus dropoff shelter. Finish at the 3rd summit sign.

Trail can be divided in 3 parts.

First, steep rocky stair-like segment. Very steep rocky stairs with some high steps.

Second, sandy switchbacks with steep rocky stairs in each turns.

Third part is a wet area with less steep sections but more difficult to navigate given the muddy rocks and odd placed rocks in the trail.

There is 1 small creek crossing thats easy at about km 3.

Summit 3 is not too far from summit 1, about 10min.
