Route: Big Slide Mountain (NY)

Location
New York, US
Distance
7.5 mi
Vertical Gain
3,300 ft
Description

Big Slide Mountain is a very popular High Peak due to its stunningly gorgeous approach over the Brothers. The Brothers are three smaller summits of bare rock, connected by a ridge that dips in and out of the trees, providing panoramic views of the Great Range, and offering steep rock scrambles along the way. Overall, from the Garden, it's a 3.6mi / 2,800' climb to the summit of Big Slide, before reversing the route.  This out & back has a Strava segment.

I improved my PR to 1:32, on a muggy July 28 morning. However, it wasn't enough to get the FKT. Since I ran 1:45 / created the FKT, Frankie DiSomma bettered my time with a 1:36. Then, Aaron Newell bettered Frankie's time with a 1:28. Not long after Aaron's new record, Jason Pageau and Lee Berube each went after the record on the same day, unbeknownst to both of them. Jason ran a 1:31. Lee ran a 1:24, but hasn't uploaded to this site.
