Description

Submitted by John Harman:

The Braamfontein Spruit is a well used and much loved green belt through the suburbs of Joburg. You'll find walkers, runners, dog walkers, cyclists, horse riders and nature lovers all out on the trail next to the Spruit and in the various parks that the Spruit connects.

Inspired by Ryan Sande's recent 13 Peaks adventure in Cape Town and his catch phrase of #backyardadventure, the goal was to start off at the Spruits most accessible, southern point (marked by the south wall of the bridge over the Spruit in Emmarentia Park) and then follow the water as closely as possible for 19 odd kays until the Spruit flows into the Jukskei River in Sunninghill (marked by the Joburg City Parks sign) and then turning round and running home. Just under 39 kays of trail running in the concrete jungle, with minimal (just 12 on the full trip) road crossings.
