This 31km loop takes in some of the highest peaks on the South Downs National Park in the Brighton & Hove catchment area.
The 5 Peaks are as follows
1: Hollingbury Hill Fort (185m)
2: Ditchling Beacon (248m)
3: Wolstonbury Hill (204m)
4: Newtimber Hill (203m)
5: Devils Dyke (203m)
Each of these peaks offer spectacular views both north, south, east and west across Sussex across to the North Downs to the North to Lewes in the East, Lancing to the West and over the English Channel to the South, where on a clear day you might see the Isle Of Wight. Each Peak offers up a wealth of history including the remains of iron age settlements on each peak.
The route itself takes you up and over each of the 5 peaks and the route has been specially designed to give you the intrepid runner the best views possible.
There is a more detailed description of the route including photo's from around the loop on https://www.alltrails.com/trail/england/east-sussex/brighton-and-hove-five-peaks
There is also a short video of the route on Youtube https://youtu.be/V3BIJO2yjOchttps://youtu.be/V3BIJO2yjOc
There is already some local interest in laying down a FKT for this route, so we are looking forward to seeing the records laid down over the months and years ahead, I understand a more detailed video documenting the route and the historic interest of areas the route goes through is in the process of being made specifically for this route.
