Description

Cerro Madsen is a mountain in Argentine Patagonia, located within the Fitz Roy range. It is a lesser-known summit within the massif and often goes unnoticed by mountaineers.

With an elevation of 1,806 meters above sea level, it has two main access routes. The most traveled route starts from the town of El Chaltén, while the other, less frequented, begins at El Pilar.

The El Pilar route helps avoid the crowds that typically form during peak season on the El Chaltén trail. Additionally, it is ideal for those looking to ascend at a faster pace without interfering with the increasing number of hikers in the area.

The route is mostly runnable up to the base of Laguna de los Tres, where the ascent becomes more technical, requiring scrambling to reach the summit.

From the top, there is a spectacular view of the Fitz Roy range, the surrounding glaciers, and the valley below.
