Description

This Loop takes you on the Cushetunk trail starting and finishing at the sign at the Cushetunk Mountain Preserve trailhead. You first climb up to the ridgeline where you first see the Round Valley Reservoir, which you will be circumnavigating on varied terrain from some technical sections in the beginning to more runnable trails.  Your last 4.5 miles will have you finishing strong on pavement soaking in the views of of the Cushetunk mountain range you traversed before finishing back at the sign. This is a great loop to explore with a solid mix of challenge. If you are wondering where the horsehoe mountain range gets its name, the Lenape Native American tribe called the mountain "Cushetunk" meaning "place of hogs" after the wild hogs found there in abundance at one point.
