This probably the most classic duathlon effort possible within Death Valley National Park, the "Death Valley Duathlon" or "Death Valley - Rim 2 Rim - Duathlon"
It is completed by combining trail runs to the highest mountain on either side of the Badwater Basin, beginning first at the Telescope Peak Trailhead in Mahogany Flat Campground in the Panamint Range with a 12 mile run up/down Telescope Peak at 11,043' then crossing by bike 89 miles to the Black Mountains and finishing with a 9 mile run up/down Mount Perry to finish at the Bronze Relief Topographical Map Sculpture in the Dante's View Parking Area.
All in all this makes for a 110 mile multi-sport day, with around 15000' of combined gain. The first 3.75 miles of the bike ride is gravel and the rest is on paved roads.
