This route traverses the Hawequas mountains from Du Toits Peak in North to Goudini Sneeukop in the south. The start of the route can be anywhere along the N1 highway, a practical starting location is the parking lot for the start of the Krom river trail. The only two peaks which require tagging are Du Toits (The highest sea facing peak in the Western cape) and Goudini Sneeukop.
The actual line between these two peaks is up to the runners and over time a fastest line will most likely emerge. Following the ridge down Goudini Sneeukop, toward Rawsonville there is a jeep track which can be used for the final 4km. The traverse ends at the end of the Jeep track where it meets up with Goudyn road. The coordinates for the end is 33°42'12.5"S 19°17'39.3"E.
The traverse is spectacular and wild. It is probably also one of the lesser explored areas in the Western Cape Mountains.
To our knowledge the first attempt of this FKT was done by Mentz Germishuys in August 2020 in a time of 9h22min. The second attempt was done by a group of 4 consisting of Mentz, Iain Peterkin, Kyle Herring and Johardt Van Heerden in a time of 8h28min. As mentioned, this is as far as we are aware as there is very little information on the route. If you have some further details please feel free to share.
