Run up all five official municipal staircases that link the lower and upper city together along the Escarpment that bisects the city of Hamilton, ON.
Run the staircases in any order and link them together in a single run, making sure to ascend every step. Time begins with the first step up the first staircase, and ends with the final step to the top of the last staircase. The staircases are:
Chedoke Stairs (289 stairs) starting at the parking lot at the end of Beddoe Dr.
Dundurn Stairs (326 stairs) starting at the end of Dundurn St.
James St. Stairs (227 stairs) starting at the end of James St. S. as it turns into James Mountain Rd.
Wentworth Stairs (498 stairs) starting at the end of Wentworth St S.
Kenilworth Stairs (387 stairs) divided in 2 sets by the Radial Rail Trail, starting at Kimberley Dr. just east of the roundabout at the end of Kenilworth Ave. S.
Connecting roads and trails to consider include the Bruce Trail and it's side trails, the Radial Rail Trail, and the Escarpment Rail Trail. You may descend each staircase at any point, but the route only counts your ascents up all five staircases. Beware of traffic along the mountain access road at the top of the Dundurn Stairs. Total route distance will likely be over 10 km.
