Description

This route is a classic from Glenridding on the bank of Ullswater to Helvellyn which rivals Scafell Pike for the accolade of most visited Lake District mountain.

Starting at Ullswater information centre, CA11 0PA head up to striding edge, then the chimney, then summit Hellvellyn, then down Swirral edge up Catsye cam then back to the car park via Glennridding common and past youth hostel the alternate route. Back to car park.

A classic route with big drops and great grade 1 scrambling and horse shoe in shape.
