Description

Cerro Incahuasi (6,621 m)

The standard route on Cerro Incahuasi is a long, high-altitude ascent through remote Atacama desert terrain. Most attempts begin from the Chilean side, following rough 4×4 tracks to a high camp before transitioning to foot travel. The climb itself is non-technical but physically demanding, with extensive scree, volcanic rubble, and broad slopes that gradually steepen toward the summit. The final push traverses loose talus and exposed terrain to the crater rim and summit high point. Altitude, isolation, wind, and route-finding in featureless terrain are the primary challenges rather than technical difficulty.

There are two routes listed here, one from the BC at 5,950m and the other from the end of the most driveable part of the road at 4,700m.
