The Jane Addams trail is a crushed limestone trail in Stephenson County, Illinois. The trail covers an old railroad bed, extending from downtown Freeport, IL to the Wisconsin state border. The trail connects to the Grand Illinois Trail (to the East) and the Badger State Trail (to the North), making it a great connector for longer adventures.
The trail is ~17.2 miles from 0 mile marker at Tutty's Crossing in downtown Freeport to the Wisconsin state line, where the Badger State Trail begins. The round-trip is a manageable 34 miles, with ample shade for 75% of the route and a comfortable crushed limestone surface for running. Parking and restrooms are available at Tutty's crossing.
The route itself is picturesque, covering farmland and forest and crossing 22 bridges.
