Description

A gorgeous loop climbing, traversing and descending one of Arizona's most remote wilderness area's, the Juniper Mesa Wilderness.  The route begins by ascending the Oaks & Willows trail up to the top of Juniper Mesa, from here you cross the mesa via Happy Camp trail to the Wilderness boundary.  Retracing your path back through Happy Camp you'll then hop on the Juniper Mesa trail where you'll enjoy a rugged route across the top of the mesa, observing massive old Junipers, dense Ponderosa and sign from all sorts of big critters (deer, elk, bear, mountain lion).  Once across the Mesa, you'll descend off the mesa via the steep, rocky and exposed Juniper Springs trail, running this all the way down to Walnut Creek Rd, which you'll run back to where you started.  You'll seldom see another human in these parts.
