Description

Linking the McHenry County Prairie Trail with the Fox River Trail creates a ~50km route spanning Kane and McHenry counties. Starting in Downtown historic West Dundee on the Fox River, moving through various towns all the way to the Wisconsin Border. The trail also passes through the 400 acre Glacial Park forest preserve. The trail consists of pavement as well as crushed limestone, gravel and some dirt paths. You can travel the trail without much disruption from cars or trucks. The trail varies in scenery through forests, prairie and wetlands. Originally portions were rail track that were then converted to recreational paths.
