Description

At 5137m, Mount Ararat (Ağrı Dağı in Turkish) is the highest mountain in Türkiye.

This route starts near the village of Çevirme (about 2400m) and goes to summit at 5137m. In the lower part, there are several options for ascent. A permit and guide are required for the climb, which is arranged by local agencies. The climb is not technically demanding, but it is essential to consider the weather and the time of year. The usual ascent on this route with an agency takes three days, allowing time for acclimatization.

In 2026, FKT is just beginning to track records on this mountain. We do not yet have a standardized start/finish location, but we will attempt to clarify that as this record progresses, relying on input from FKT athletes. If you attempt this route, please document your start/finish location carefully, explain why you chose it, and provide your considered input on where we should establish the official start/finish. We may choose to apply adjustments in comparing record attempts based on start/finish location.
