Route: Niesengrat (Switzerland)

Location
Switzerland
Distance
44.2 km
Description

Submitted by Ramon Krebs, with the specific intent that this route can be linked by public transport (start & end at train stations):

A ridge, very technical and with a breathtaking view. The path is only partially marked, but is easy, always along the ridge... However, it is important to be able to move safely in technical terrain. In addition, easy climbing passages should not be an obstacle.

What is special about Switzerland is the public transport. You can go anywhere without a car, from home! That's why I want to design this project like this. That's why the start is at Mülenen train station, at the foot of the famous Niesen. Everything begins with the ascent to the Niesen, where the actual ridge begins. In total, the route includes 21 peaks. The destination is the station in Lenk. Thus it is possible to reach everything with public transport from home and the starting and finishing points are clearly defined.

This route was already committed in other variants and the basic idea is not new. But I would like to bring in the idea of everything with public transport and therefore establish the route as described.

Note that Stephan Hugenschmidt suggests ending in Adelboden, where public transport is also available.  This seems like an acceptable alternative, provided one traverses the entire ridge, as Hugenschmidt did.
