The route is Alfred Wainwrights " A Pennine Journey"  first walked in 1938 just before the World War 2. It is a beautiful route travelling from Settle in Yorkshire up to Hadrian's wall via the Eastern Pennines then returning down the western Pennines back to Settle. It covers 247 miles and 36,942 ft through stunning scenery. Most people walk the Pennine Way, but this precedes that route by decades. The route is normally walked over 18 days the route description is on www.penninejourney.org.uk.
