Description

A beautiful one-way coastal route from Rosemarkie to Cromarty. The first half is a rather rough section along the shoreline with much interest; still very well runnable for the most part. Between (South to North) km 2 and 7.5 there is no dedicated path. Navigation is still easy as one just needs to follow the shoreline. The second half is mostly on very quiet roads with good views.

Important: The shoreline section of the route cannot be completed at high tide, and runs over tiring terrain - a mix of sand, rounded pebbles and rough boulders. Times for tide can be easily googled. The time window around low tide should be more than sufficient to finish the section along the shoreline (appr. 5.5 km).

Public Transport for the return is available. The car park in Rosemarkie is a good starting point as the route leaves towards Cromarty
