Description

Salar de Uyuni is the largest salt desert in the world. The route across it starts in the village of Llica and heads toward the larger town of Uyuni, from west to east.

The route is practically flat, covering 172km at an elevation of 3.700 m (12,140ft).

The route begins in Llica, underneath the village entrance/exit arch as the previous bike crossing. From there, you follow the dirt road into the salt flat. The route consists of 145km across the salt flat, followed by another 27km of road until reaching the church in Uyuni, the only notable landmark in the town. This marks the completion of the full crossing of Salar de Uyuni.
