The Southend Millennium Walk is a delightful circular walk devised by the Ramblers Association. It covers all aspects of the town from the famous Golden Mile featuring the longest pier in the world, the surrounding golden sands to the beautiful countryside that surrounds the town. From the beginning of the walk on the promenade beside Southend Pier the walk visits Chalkwell Oaze, Leigh National Nature Reserve, Belton Hills (Two Tree Island), Hadleigh Castle, Plumtree Hill, Sandpit Hill, Adders Hill, Great Wood (Belfairs Wood Nature Reserve), Belfairs Park, Noblesgreen, Primrose Wood, Roach Valley Way, Rochford Hall, Sutton Ford Bridge, Sutton Hall, Shopland Hall, Garon Park, Alleyn Court, Bournes Green, Southchurch and Thorpe Hall Golf Club before returning to the sea front promenade and heading back to the pier.
