Description

This route allows to do all iconic trails around the village of Mont-Dore, in Auvergne, at the heart of Massif Central. Starting at the huge parking of Salon du Capucin, the route gets you to the ridge linking the Puy de Sancy summit, the highest of the area, and ending at Roc Cuzeau. Then, the route goes North, linking the famouses Col de la Croix St-Robert to Col de la Croix Morand passing by Puy de l'Angle summit. A very nice descent allows to fast runners to enjoy the arrival of Col de la Croix Morand. Then, the route leaves ridges and summits to go through forest in direction of Lac de Servière, famous place to visit, before going to Lac de Guéry, a very iconic place of the area. Time now to leave the forest and run facing the wind in direction of La Banne d'Ordanche. The route doesn't go this summit but goes left just before to climb (after a small descent) to Puy Gros, where you will enjoy a view about Mont-Dore and the ridge of Sancy you ran in the morning. Then, the route leads you back to the car, you go down passing by a very nice and secret path going to Mont-Dore, and then going up to Salon du Capucin. In Summer, you will find a nice troquet to enjoy a fresh drink at your arrival.
