Description

This 50k route is a classic of Yosemite that includes several of the well-known locations in the park.  It begins at Tuolumne Meadows on the Cathedral Lakes Trailhead and goes all the way to the Yosemite Valley floor, ending at the Merced River.  Along the way, you pass by Cathedral Peak, Columbia Finger, Tressider Peak, Sunrise Mountain, make your way over the summit of Clouds Rest, and then work your way through sections of the John Muir Trail and the Panorama Trail, which winds all the way around Half Dome and Sentinel Dome to Glacier Point, leading you down Four-Mile Trail with incredible views of El Capitan and Yosemite Falls as you descend to the valley floor.  This route contains many of the most iconic natural features and best views the park has to offer!

Admin note: Alyssa Clark suggested a variation running uphill, west to east. "This is a variation on the original route of running from Tuolumne Meadows to Yosemite Valley. This is running in the opposite direction, from Yosemite Valley to Tuolumne Meadows which adds almost 5,000ft of elevation gain to the route. It hits the major highlights of Yosemite, but adds the fun of hitting almost 10k of climbing!"
